Cute and Awesome

Last night I had a fun conversation with Matthew while I was giving him his bath.

Me:  Who is cute?
Matthew:  You are!
Me:  Aw, thanks!  But who else is cute?
Matthew:  I don't know.
Me:  You are!  You're cute Matthew!
Matthew:  No I not!  I are AWESOME!  I awesome!  Yeah!
Me:  Yes you are Matthew.  You are awesome!

It's good to know Matthew knows the truth!  He is a pretty awesome kid!  :)

Wake Up Time

Tyler came in my room at 8:00 this morning and told me, "Mommy, since you have a baby in your tummy, your wake up time can be 8:30."  Then I heard him go out to the kitchen and tell Claire & Matthew that he was going to make breakfast & asked them if they wanted toast.  What a sweet boy to want me to sleep in on an overcast Saturday morning!  :)

Four

I took these pregnancy tests on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday this week.  Jeff didn't think the test line was dark enough to be positive.

So Thursday, I went & bought a digital pregnancy test & he finally believed me!  It only took 4 pregnancy tests to prove to Jeff what I knew all along - we'll be having our 4th baby!!!

We are all very excited!  I should be due around April 17, 3 days before our 10 year Anniversary!  Hooray!!!  It took 15 months of trying, 6 months of fertility drugs, getting my thyroid in balance and losing 30 pounds to be able to have a positive pregnancy test - definitely a long process!  Thank you to those of you who have prayed for us to be able to complete our family.  I feel very blessed!

Playing and Having Fun

Claire is cracking me up.  We were just talking about the fact that after lunch we're going to play school and do an art project.  I told Claire that we can do the art project while we play school because sometimes kids do art projects at school.  Her response was, "Not at my school. At my school we have playing and having fun and math.  That's all.  And we have centers like housekeeping."  I informed her that in kindergarten she would be doing plenty of art projects while keeping myself from laughing out loud.  Guess I'd better start preparing her to be an excellent kindergarten student since she only has a week and a half until she begins years of hard work in school.  :)

Bathroom Tile

So the time finally came to part ways with the horribly ugly tile that was in our bathrooms when we moved into our house six and a half years ago.

In May we found this gorgeous Egyptian Limestone tile on sale at Arizona Tile and decided to have it installed in both of our bathrooms.

Here's the kids' bathroom right before they tore the old tile out.

Here's the bathroom when the tile was all installed!  I love it!  What a difference!

And here's the before & after of my bathroom!  Getting rid of that yucky old tile made such a difference!

Future Prophet

Just a little background info for those who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormon).  In our church we have a prophet to lead the church.  The recent prophets have all gone by their first name, middle initial and last name or by President and their last name.  For example, our current prophet is Thomas S. Monson.  He is sometimes called President Monson.  The prophet before Thomas S. Monson was Gordon B. Hinckley, and before him it was Howard W. Hunter.   I hope this will help this little story makes sense for you.

Jeff was tucking Tyler into bed the other night & Tyler told Jeff, "When I grow up I want to be the prophet.  That way everyone will call me Tyler J. Cosme."  Jeff got a good little laugh about this comment & then he explained to Tyler that he shouldn't plan to become the prophet, but that he should concentrate on being a good boy and obeying the commandments and if he wants to be called Tyler J. Cosme, he doesn't have to be the prophet.  Tyler is such a funny little boy.

Mother's Day Present

Here's the most recent conversation from my house.

Claire: Mommy, I went pee-pee in my bed.
Jeff: Colleen, did you hear what she just said?
Me: Huh?  What did you just say Claire?
Claire:  I went pee-pee in my bed.
Me: You did?
Tyler: What a great Mother's Day present!
Claire: It is not a Mother's Day present.!?! I went pee-pee in my bed.

I guess Claire missed the sarcasm of Tyler's comment!  Too funny!  Even the "joys" of being a mother, like cleaning up a little girl who had an "accident," don't disappear on Mother's Day!  It's just a reminder of how fun it is to be a Mom!  I love my kids!  They're the cutest, funniest, smartest, most fun, and mischievous kids I know.  They bring adventure to my life every single day!  Happy Mother's Day everyone!

A Horse Says....

While giving Matthew his bath, I was quizzing him what different animals say.  He knows quite a few animals, so here's how the conversation went...

Me: What does a cow say?
Matthew:  Mooooooo
Me:  What does a pig say?
Matthew:  Oink-oink
Me:  What does a duck say?
Matthew:  Cack-Cack
Me:  What does a cat say?
Matthew:  Meeooow

Then I decided to try a new one...
Me:  What does a horse say?
Matthew:  Giddy-up

That was just too cute & made me chuckle!  :)

Street Performer

Last week we met up with my family at California Adventure.  When we arrived, they were all in the Aladdin Show.  So we rode a couple rides, then waited for them outside of the theater.  My kids were playing on some steps that led to a fake door.  I looked back & saw Tyler dancing on the steps.  We're talking arms extended dancing up and down the steps!  I asked him what he was doing and he replied, "Well, I was hoping someone would walk by and give me some money!"  That boy cracks me up!  He was trying to be a little street performer!  What a nut!!!!

USOA

Here's the conversation I had with my kids in the car last weekend.

Tyler: Why is the O missing from the United States of America? It should be USOA, not USA. It's United States Of America, not United States America!  When I grow up I will be the mayor so I can change it."
Me: But a mayor is only for a city. I think you'd have to be the President of the United States to make that change.
Tyler: OK, I guess I'll have to the President then.
Claire: When I grow up I want to be Jesus's Mommy.
Me: Jesus already has a Mommy.
Tyler: Yeah, Mary was Jesus's Mommy. You can't be Mary.
Claire: But I just want to dress up like Mary, in a costume.
Tyler: And then we can call you Mary. Hey that rhymes with Clairie. Mary, Clairie, Mary, Clairie.
Claire: I just want to be Mary!

It was really hard to keep from laughing.  These 2 sure are funny little kids!
