In February I wanted to post these pictures, but never got around to it. Tyler had to take steroids for his asthma and that medicine does not do pleasant things for his behavior. It's almost like he loses all impulse control when he's taking them and for at least a week after he's done taking them. In February, 4 days into the steroids, he got his hands on my Gingher Sewing Scissors and hacked off the front of his hair. I had to get out my clippers to try to repair the damage. To get the front to the length of the part he cut, I had to cut his hair with a 2. Even then I could still see where he cut it. His cute faux-hawk was gone & his hair looked rediculous! He barely had any hair on the top for my brother, Ryan's wedding 6 weeks later. Now his hair has finally grown out enough that he was able to get a decent haircut last week... Just in time to have more trouble with his asthma & start a new round of steroids. Please, oh please, don't let him cut his hair like that again this time!

Earth Day Toy Exchange
In honor of Earth Day, Tyler's school will be having a toy recycling event. The kids are supposed to bring in one of their old toys and trade toys with kids in their class. It's kind of like a Christmas Gift Exchange, but with used toys. I had the following conversation with Tyler about this event...
Me: So Tyler, did your teacher tell you about the toy exchange for Earth Day?
Tyler: No, what is it?
Me: You take one of your toys to school & trade it for someone else's toy.
Tyler: (making a sour face) Oh.
Me: You don't have to do it if you don't want to. Like, what if you take a nice toy and you end up getting a junky toy?
Tyler: Well.... what if I take a junky toy and then I can get a really nice toy?
Me: (laughing under my breath) I don't think it really works that way. And that would be rude to take a junky toy.
Tyler is a smart kid. He doesn't want to get rid of a good toy, running the risk of bringing home a junky one. I guess we'll have to think about it & decide if Tyler is going to trade one of his toys.

I Love a Great Deal
So, this morning I spent 2 1/2 hours shopping in Kohls while Tyler was at school. Everything you see on my love seat came home from Kohls with me today. You might be thinking... geesh, how much did she spend? That will certainly be Jeff's question when he sees all of the things I bought today. But never fear! I am a girl who loves a great deal! Here's the breakdown of what I bought for each member of our family:
Claire:
1 sundress, 1 skirt, 2 t-shirts, 2 pairs of shorts and a tank top.
Tyler:
3 pairs of shorts, 1 polo shirt, 1 sleeveless t-shirt and 2 pairs of pajamas.
Matthew:
1 pair of shorts and 1 polo shirt
Jeff:
2 polo shirts
Colleen:
1 pair of capris, 1 bra, 1 dress, 1 pair of sweat pants, 1 pair of exercise shorts, 1 excercise t-shirt, 1 t-shirt and 1 pair of sandals
For everyone:
A new doormat, an easter bunny decoration for the front door, and an Easter platter
Take your guess, what do you think the grand total should be? Well, with my 30% off coupon, and the no sales tax sale, I saved a bundle. When all was said and done, I got all of that stuff for a mere $224.35! The bottom of my receipt says that I saved $405.64! Oh and did I mention that they're also giving out Kohls Cash? Now I get to go back and get $40 worth of free stuff! Sweeeet! I just have to say that I LOVE GETTING A GREAT DEAL!!!!!

Crappy Start of the Week - Literally
What kind of week is this going to be? I don't know - here's how it's started so far...
Last night Claire kept waking up crying. I decided that she must need to use the potty, so I took her to the bathroom. She threw a total fit, not wanting to go potty. She eventually went pee-pee, but it shot between the toilet & the seat and made a huge mess on the floor. Jeff put her in new jammies (because of course she got pee on them) and I cleaned the puddle on the floor & put the rugs into the washer. Then off to bed we went.
At 6:20 this morning, Matthew woke up crying. I went to his room to find that his diaper leaked & he was covered in pee! I changed him into new jammies and put him back to bed.
When I woke up to tend to Matthew, I had a horrendous headache. So I climbed back in bed. Jeff brought me some Advil before he left for work. I stayed in bed for a while waiting for it to kick in.
I got up about 7:20 and fixed breakfast for Tyler. Last night I was sure that Claire would need to go to the doctor today because her eyes were goopy & crusty. After fixing breakfast for Tyler, I checked Claire's eyes & they were perfectly clear! Hooray! Maybe the day won't be so bad after all... or not!
I went in Matthew's room to get him out of his crib. Holy Moly!!! Matthew had taken his pajama pants off & thrown them on the floor. Then he pooped in his diaper & it had oozed out all over his legs and all over his bed. Of course he had to walk all through it! The poop was everywhere! Even up the side of the crib on the slats! I got him all cleaned up and gave him a bath. All this time I just couldn't help but wonder, "How can a mess so gross come from someone so cute?" Instead of adding a picture of the mess, I've added a picture of my cutie little boy after he was all cleaned up.
Tyler started in on his, "I don't want to go to school" whining. My response to him today was, "Fine you can stay home from school, but you'll have to clean up all of that poop in Matthew's room." Needless to say, he was perfectly happy to go to school after that.
As we were walking out the door to take Tyler to school, he decided that he should put his breakfast dishes in the sink. What a good boy - until he spilled the rest of his Cran-Apple juice all over the floor. Nice!
We took Tyler to school & battled it out with all of the crazy parents trying to drop their kids off at school. Now we're back home & I have a disgusting crib to clean up! Oh the joys of being a parent!
All I can say is that if this morning is any indication of how the rest of the week will go, I'll be in need of help from either a mental health professional or the Molly Maids. Here's to a fantastic week. I hope you're all off to a much cleaner & better start than I am.
Oh wait, now there's one my thing to add to the morning list. Claire & Matthew have been playing in my room while I've been writing this post. Just as I was finishing, they left the room & Claire closed Matthew's finger in the door. It looks like he'll probably lose his fingernail. Poor baby! There's no blood, so I think he's ok.
Happy Monday everyone!!!

Dummy
Here's the conversation I just had with Claire.
Me: What are you eating?
Claire: Nothing.
Me: What's in your mouth?
Claire: Nothing.
- I pause to smell her breath.
Me: You're eating peanut butter pretzels.
Claire: No.
Me: Claire, I can smell them. And I can see it in your mouth. I'm not a dummy you know.
Claire: You are a dummy.
Thanks Claire. It's nice to know your opinion of me. And to think, I was going to polish your nails for you before you go to bed tonight. I don't think a dummy can handle that. :)
